About a month ago our Media class decided to randomly divide our class into two groups and battle to see who's group would come up with the best campaign. Same sex marriages, global warming and a no clothes campaign were our original ideas, they were either extremely far fetched or 100 percent serious. Nothing truly fit our interest and quite honestly we thought we were going to lose in a heartbeat. We were still in the process of deciding what we were going to campaign for, so i just sat around trying to brainstorm. I then thought, instead of doing something that will only visually effect the majority of us why not make the observers think on and every day lever. The best example i could think of for this was the hallway.
Every day we pass these people in the hallways:the things that run through our heads, there nice and there bad, but whether we like to believe it or not...were stereotyping everything we see. Jock, emo kid, hipster, drop out, burnout, fall out, scumbag, dork, loser, bitc*, slu*, Whor*, far and wide this happens all over the world. But if we take care of one school at a time, where the bulk of America's judgmental adolescents spend their every day,we can make the world just a little bit better.
Our campaign consists of poster adds that we are going to post allover our school. Our posters are going to consist of exaggerated stereotypical images with ironic headings.
Example: a boy with a big belt buckle, a john deer hat and a shirt that in some shape or form advertises guns and hunting. A person like this is commonly stereotyped as a "red neck", the title of this poster would be and is "vegetarian".By working on this project, our class came together as one, which we typically don't do. We all tend to keep to ourselves and add our opinions and ideas to class discussion, when necessary.
